The launch of Audi's first full-electric model in late 2019 will be followed by a 12-model EV offensive from the German automaker.
Audi have announced plans to offer 12 models with full-electric drive in 'most important markets' by 2025, by which time Audi expect roughly one-third of its sales to be electrified (full-electric or hybrid) models.
Audi's first EV - the e-tron SUV - will be followed by an e-tron Sportback. A series of models with 'classic body layouts' such as Avant and Sportback will also be available to cover 'every relevant market segment from the compact to the full-size class'. Audi has worked in close collaboration with other Volkswagen Group brands on a total of four technical platforms and product families to offer EVs in every segment.
Audi will present another high-performance EV platform developed in collaboration with Porsche before the end of 2018, expected to underpin a production version of the Audi e-tron GT concept showcar.

“2018 is a key year for Audi with an enormously high speed of change, that will gradually put us back on the offensive,” said Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi AG, Rupert Stadler.
“We are approaching the climax of the biggest model fireworks in our company's history and are entering the age of electric mobility with the Audi e-tron.”
Audi says all 'e-SUVs' will feature electric quattro all-wheel drive, fast charging with up to 150kW and range of 400km, suitable for long-distance journeys.
Several Volkswagen Group brands are collaborating on the development of the modular electrification platform (MEB), which will underpin a series of high-volume Audi e-models. One of these is being developed specifically for the requirements of China, the single most important market. Audi will also greatly expand its range of plug-in hybrid models.
“The Audi e-tron is definitely a highlight in the history of our company and the starting signal for our electrification strategy," said Audi AG Board Member Peter Mertens.
“In the future, virtually every market segment will include models powered by a combination of electric motors and a combustion engine, and that can be charged at an electric outlet,” said Board Member for Technical Development Mertens.
