The Vantage has been selected by Aston Martin as their first series production model to wear the AMR badge.
Launched at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year, Aston Martin AMR takes all of its lessons and inspiration direct from Aston Martin Racing’s participation and packages it into a new race-inspired, road-going performance range.
The AMR brand has two tiers. Series production limited-edition models such as this new Vantage AMR sit at its entry point.
More extreme and extensively modified AMR Pro models sit at atop the range, including the Vantage AMR Pro unveiled at this year’s Geneva Motor Show.
“It’s a real thrill to see our first AMR model go into production, said Aston Martin President and CEO, Dr Andy Palmer.
“The Vantage has been an incredible success for Aston Martin, both in V8 and V12 forms. As our most agile and athletic road car, and our long-time representative in the world of GT racing, it is the perfect model with which to introduce the exciting AMR range.”
This first Vantage AMR model is a celebration of the company’s success in GT4, GT3 and GTE categories worldwide.
The Vantage AMRs are offered with either a 4.7-litre, 313kW V8, or 6.0-litre, 445kW V12 powertrain. Global Vantage AMR production is limited to just 300 cars with only 100 V12’s and 200 V8’s planed.
Both engines are fitted with automated sequential manual paddle-shift transmissions as standard, but for the purist, a six or seven-speed manual gearbox will also be available (six for V8, seven for V12).
The Vantage AMR is available in four colours: Stratus White with an Orange graphic; Ultramarine Black with Blue graphic; Zaffre Blue with Red graphic; and Scintilla Silver with Grey graphic.
A special ARM ‘Halo Pack’ is also available, a colour option that mirrors the hue of Aston Martin Racing’s 2016 World Endurance Championship-winning #95 Vantage GTE, a combination of Stirling Green and Lime Green.
Each of the exterior colours is matched to a different interior theme, with a combination of leather and Alcantara for the Vantage AMR Coupes and all-leather for the Vantage AMR Roadsters.
Lightweight carbon fibre seats are offered as part of a range of interior and exterior options. These include carbon fibre features like a lightweight front grille, side strakes, lamp infills and mirror caps on the outside, instrument surround, door tops and door grabs on the inside.
There is a choice of three different finishes for the V8 Vantage AMR’s 5-spoke alloy wheels and the V12 Vantage AMR’s lightweight 10-spoke alloy wheels.
The Vantage AMR can also be specified with the AMR Aero Kit. Produced in partnership with Aston Martin Racing, the carbon fibre aerodynamic package features front splitter and dive planes, plus side sills and a fixed rear spoiler.
Another highlight option is the forged aluminium AMR Vantage wheel which mimics the design of the wheels fitted to the Vantage AMR Pro Concept shown at Geneva.
Weight savings can be made with the AMR titanium exhaust, which saves 14kg over the standard V12 Vantage system, also improving sound and engine response.
Aston Martin President and CEO, Dr Andy Palmer, said of the Vantage AMR: Unmistakable in look and feel the Vantage AMR will appeal to our most enthusiastic customers”, said Palmer.
“Limited production numbers will undoubtedly make them extremely collectible, but they’re so good to drive I’m confident we’ll see many of them being enjoyed both on the road and at track events around the world.”
V8 and V12 Vantage AMR models will be available in both Coupe and Roadster body styles in the Asia Pacific region, but a New Zealand release date has not been confirmed as yet.
Prices for the Vantage AMR start from £97,995 in the UK (NZ$173,400).
Worldwide deliveries are scheduled to begin in the last quarter of 2017.
