- Aston Martin marks 25 years of the Vanquish, spanning three distinct flagship V12 generations.
- The latest Vanquish produces 614kW and 1000Nm from a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine.
- First introduced in 2001, the Vanquish pioneered advanced construction and transmission tech.
Aston Martin is celebrating 25 years of its Vanquish nameplate, a model that has defined the brand’s flagship front-engined performance car since its debut in 2001.
Now in its third generation, the Vanquish continues to sit at the top of the marque’s range: faster, more powerful and more technically ambitious than ever.
From bold debut to modern icon

The original V12 Vanquish arrived at the 2001 Geneva Motor Show as a clean-sheet design, bringing with it a wave of new technology for Aston Martin.
Drive-by-wire throttle and paddle-shift gear changes were cutting-edge at the time, while its aluminium and carbon composite construction marked a significant leap in engineering.

Powered by a 6.0-litre V12 producing around 343kW, the first Vanquish set the tone: high performance paired with a strong focus on design and innovation.
It also marked the end of an era, being the final model built at Aston Martin’s historic Newport Pagnell facility before production moved to Gaydon.
Sharper, lighter, faster

The second-generation Vanquish, introduced in 2012, pushed the formula further. Its design drew influence from the One-77 hypercar, while extensive use of carbon fibre helped reduce weight and sharpen proportions.
Under the bonnet, an updated 6.0-litre V12 delivered around 421kW, enabling a 0 to 100km/h time of roughly 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 295km/h. Carbon ceramic brakes also became part of the package, improving stopping performance and heat resistance.
Available in both coupe and convertible forms, it reinforced Vanquish’s position as a true Super GT, capable of blending long-distance comfort with serious pace.
The most powerful Vanquish yet

Fast-forward to 2024, and the latest Vanquish raises the bar again. Powered by a 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 producing 614kW and 1000Nm, it stands as the most powerful production Aston Martin to date.
Performance is equally serious, with a claimed 0 to 97km/h time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 344km/h. Beneath the surface sits a bonded aluminium structure with advanced suspension systems, alongside carbon ceramic brakes designed to handle sustained high-speed use.

Production is limited to fewer than 1000 examples annually, maintaining exclusivity at the top end of Aston Martin’s line-up.
Aston Martin CEO Adrian Hallmark said: “Since its arrival 25 years ago, the Vanquish nameplate has been synonymous with something special; something ambitious, different and daring.”
From its early days as a technological showcase to its current role as a high-performance flagship, the Vanquish has remained a constant thread through Aston Martin’s modern history, evolving, but never losing its sense of occasion.
