It might be a little long in the tooth, but that doesn't stop Aston Martin's Vanquish from being one of the most beautiful cars money can buy today.
Last year the British marque dropped a bombshell and revealed the Vanquish Zagato as a coupe and Volante convertible, and today they've dropped two more bombs; confirming that the gorgeous Zagato will also be available as a speedster and as a shooting brake [pictured below].
All four cars are capable performance GTs. Each boast the same 433kW 6.0-litre V12 from the Vanquish S under the bonnet partnered with an automatic gearbox. This combo will see the coupe scamper to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds — though this time will probably be a bit slower in the heavier convertibles and wagons.
All four variants will also be highly limited; just 99 Shooting Brakes, 99 Coupes, 99 Volantes, and a measly 28 Speedsters [pictured below] will be made. And all of the Coupes, Volantes, and Speedsters have been accounted for ... So if you want one, you'll be best settling for the Shooting Brake. No matter, though, as it's potentially the most interesting car in the mix.
That said, the story on availability is probably going to be very different come the end of the week. The Shooting Brake (which, sadly, is just a two seater), as well as the rest of the range, will be previewed at this weekend's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California — classic-car Nirvana, and a place where plenty of potential future supercar and GT owners will be roaming around. There's every possibility that Aston Martin will secure buyers for the rest of the allotment before Monday.
“We haven’t released Zagato models as a family before, at least not in this way, but the idea is not without precedent,” said Aston Martin Chief Creative Offiver Marek Reichman.
“Think back to the DB7 Zagato and DB AR1, or the V8 Zagato Coupe and Volante, for example. We’ve simply taken things a few steps further. [...] Many of our customers want different things. Some prefer the purity of a Coupe, but others love the idea of something more extreme, like the Speedster. And yes, some of them have ordered one example of each.
“There’s always an over-demand from our clients and patrons. We could easily fulfill demand for more cars than this, but we want Zagato to remain something very special. We’re creating collectibles, future concours cars. With only 325 cars worldwide, divided between 99 Coupes, 99 Volantes, 28 Speedsters and 99 Shooting Brakes — they are still the rarest of the rare.”
Curiously, Aston Martin have revealed just the one photo of the Shooting Brake (plus a second photo, which is just the first one zoomed right in and pixelated...). So we wait with baited breath to witness it in its full glory.
What we have been spoiled with are images of the production Vanquish Zagato Volante convertible. Depicted in grey, the car retains just about all of the render's curves and lines. Check out of the rest of the photoset in the gallery below.
