Aston Martin this week officially unveiled its first all-new model in more than a decade, the DB11, in Auckland.

The sporting grand tourer is described by the British company as the most significant new Aston Martin since the introduction of the DB9 in 2003.

The new car, priced from $365,000 plus on-road costs, has already attracted strong local attention, with the first models arriving towards the end of the year.

"As the first 'DB' since the introduction of the DB9, we are already experiencing significant demand for DB11, demonstrating the strong affinity for Aston Martin in this market," said the president of Aston Martin Asia Pacific, Patrik Nilsson.

The DB11 is powered by a new in-house designed 5.2-litre twin turbocharged V12 engine. The engine develops 600 brake horsepower and 700 Nm of torque.

The model is built on a new lighter, strong and more space efficient bonded aluminium structure, and the company says it is "the most powerful, most efficient and most dynamically gifted DB model in Aston Martin's history."

Aston Martin says the DB11 has a top speed of 322 kph, and can travel from zero to 100 km in just 3.9 seconds.

The model will be shown to existing and potential Aston Martin customers at the Aston Martin On Ice customer programme in Queenstown from August 22 to 28.

"Aston Martin has a proud, 103-year heritage in the luxury automotive market, and the DB11 embodies every aspect of the brand with absolute elegance and indulgence, combining the very latest technology and finest quality hand craftsmanship," said Nilsson.
