Alpine has made a bold move with the introduction of the A110 R Ultime, marking the final chapter for the A110 nameplate before the brand pivots to electric vehicles (EVs).
Limited to just 110 units, this ultra-exclusive version of the sports coupe recently made its debut in Paris, and it brings a slew of performance upgrades alongside an eye-watering price tag.
At the heart of the A110 R Ultime lies an enhanced 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, pushing out 257 kW and 420Nm of torque. This represents a significant power bump from the previous A110 R, with an additional 36kW and 80Nm of torque.
Thanks to its revised powertrain, including a new gearbox and Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, the Ultime can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds, making it one of the fastest road-going Alpines.
But it’s not just the engine that has seen improvements.
The chassis has been fine-tuned with Ohlins adjustable dampers and stronger brakes, including AP Racing bi-material discs.
Together with the sophisticated aerodynamics, the A110 R Ultime delivers 160kg of extra downforce, allowing for more stable high-speed cornering and improved overall handling.
The car's aerodynamic design isn't just for show. With forged 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels wrapped in high-grip Michelin PS2 Cup tyres, the A110 R Ultime gets even more enhanced performance and stability.
The car’s bodywork and setup also reflect a focus on precision engineering, translating into a sharper driving experience.
In terms of customisation, Alpine has spared no expense. Buyers can choose from 27 exterior colour options and four Alcantara interior trims in the standard Atelier package.
For those wanting even more exclusivity, the Atelier Sur-Mesure adds 9 additional Alcantara choices, 10 leather shades, and bespoke finishing options like embroidery and leather braiding.
While the A110 R Ultime boasts technical prowess, it also comes with a hefty price. Starting at €265,000 (around NZ$475,000), the cost can escalate to €330,000 (nearly NZ$600,000) depending on options, making it Alpine’s most expensive model to date.
For the elite few looking for even more exclusivity, Alpine offers the La Bleue version - limited to 15 units - with handcrafted gradients and a leather-wrapped interior.
