Yes, to answer your first question, we counted 97. Much frame-by-frame viewing and rewinding was involved, but that's the total.

Many of those cars are CGI creations, but my heart goes out to those that aren't — namely the helpless motors flopping out from the parking lot.

This franchise, more than any other, has always had a penchant for destroying cars in a wanton and often explosive manner. Though never have they ever been blown up with a torpedo skidding along the surface of an iced-over lake, aimed by The Rock's feet...

This is the second trailer for Fate of the Furious; the first of which has already been dissected. Not much new is added into the mix, apart from one of the film's key plot points — car hacking. 

For as long as autonomous technology and satellite navigation have become ingrained in modern cars, the fear of whether that technology can be exploited by hackers, the Government, or otherwise has been a commonly held fear.

The likes of iRobot and Transformers have tinkered with the concept in the past, but F8 looks likely to be the first to push the theory into the limelight. 

That said, this is a film from the Furious franchise. Chances are any political or cultural commentary on the matter is going to well and truly be left at the door.
