- The 2026 Grenadier introduces variable-ratio steering with improved on-road precision.
- Steering-stop changes cut turning circle by around 5%, improving manoeuvrability in tight spaces.
- The new Black Edition, based on Fieldmaster, adds Inky Black paint and all-black exterior details.
Ineos Automotive has rolled out its most comprehensive update yet for the Grenadier, fine-tuning the rugged 4X4 for the 2026 model year while keeping prices steady.
The headline act is a reworked steering system aimed squarely at improving on-road confidence, paired with a handful of usability tweaks and the arrival of a new, high-spec Black Edition.
Steering the ship, properly this time

The big mechanical change sits behind the wheel. For 2026, the Grenadier gains a new variable-ratio steering box — a first for the model.
Around the straight-ahead position, the ratio is lower, delivering a firmer, more precise feel. Ineos says this boosts confidence during high-speed cruising, lane changes and overtaking, without dulling the vehicle’s off-road prowess.

Crucially, the steering ratio at full lock remains unchanged, so the Grenadier keeps its trademark capability when the tarmac ends.
Engineers have also tweaked the steering stops, trimming the turning circle by about five percent. That should make tight urban manoeuvres and narrow trails a little less of a three-point dance.
Small tweaks, daily wins

Elsewhere, the updates are more subtle but aimed squarely at day-to-day comfort.
Climate control hardware has been upgraded to make heating and cooling more predictable, while the advanced driver-assistance systems have been revised to meet the latest regulations.

A small but welcome change is a new home-screen shortcut that allows one-touch muting of the compulsory Intelligent Speed Assist warning chime. Expect plenty of owners to memorise that button location.
INEOS Automotive CEO Lynn Calder summed up the thinking behind the changes: “We’ve continuously enhanced and upgraded the Grenadier since its launch, but this is the most significant improvement so far… It’s easier and more fun to enjoy every day and for every journey (and with a faster way to switch off the annoying ADAS alerts we are forced to fit).”
Enter the Black Edition

Joining the range for 2026 is the Grenadier Black Edition, offered on both Station Wagon and Quartermaster pick-up body styles.
Based on the well-equipped Fieldmaster trim, it layers on an all-black aesthetic: Inky Black paint, gloss black 18-inch alloys, dark exterior detailing, privacy glass and a darker cabin finish.

Ineos describes it as a “ready-to-go” high-spec option, aimed at buyers who want the look and kit without diving into the options list. Order books are now open, with production available for a limited window.
Prices across the rest of the 2026 Grenadier line-up remain unchanged, reinforcing the sense that this update is about refinement rather than reinvention. The Grenadier may still look unapologetically square-jawed, but for 2026 it’s learned a few new manners, without losing its edge. New Zealand pricing and availability are yet to be disclosed.
