The next-generation Honda CR-V will reportedly feature seating for seven, a more attractive design and, in some regions at least, attempt a move upmarket. Leon Brannan, head of Honda UK's automotive division, told Autocar that new CR-V, which is expected to debut in 2017, will grow in size.
He also hinted that the vehicle will be offered with the option of third row seating. He also revealed that the 2017 CR-V will feature an interior that cribs many design details and features from the smaller HR-V, including its touchscreen infotainment system.
During his inaugural public speech as the company's new CEO, Takahiro Hachigo told the media earlier this week that "core global Honda models CR-V and Accord will undergo full model changes in the future to make them more attractive vehicles that feature more new technologies, higher competitiveness and innovative designs".
Brannan went on to explain that the company will, at least in the UK, push the next-generation CR-V upmarket allowing the HR-V more breathing room. It's unknown, at the moment, if Honda Australia will follow the UK arm's strategy when the new CR-V arrives locally.
