The Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato concept was unveiled at the 2016 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, held on the shores of Lake Como at the weekend.
Zagato has thoroughly reimagined the Vanguish, with this concept featuring all-new exterior panels fashioned from carbonfibre. Among the more dramatic changes are blacked out A-pillars and a falling side window profile, which give the concept a glasshouse that resembles a helmet visor.
Under the bonnet, the naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 engine has been retuned to deliver 441kW of power. Drive is sent to the rear wheels, while stopping power is provided by cross-drilled brakes front and rear.
While the exterior has been thoroughly reworked, the interior has been less dramatically redesigned. Zagato has retrimmed the seats and door panels with new red and black leather coverings, complete with eye-catching red Z stitching.
According to Aston Martin, the wing mirror design is inspired by One-77, while the side stakes and rear-end treatment are influenced by the new DB11. The tail-lights are said to a fusion of old and new, with Zagato’s classic round design married to blade-like LED graphics borrowed from the Vulcan track car.
There’s also Zagato’s signature double bubble roof, an enlarged front grille with LED driving lights, powerful upswept rear haunches, and prominent carbonfibre front splitters, side sills and rear diffuser.
Other revisions include herringbone carbonfibre inlays, anodised bronze highlights, and aniline leather for the dashboard and switches.
