'New' 1999 Lamborghini with almost no kilometres clocked up for auction

While scouring the internet for cars you will have no doubt witnessed sellers stating that their car has 'low ks'. For a classic, low is probably sub 50,000. For a cheap runabout dunger, in the ballpark of sub 150,000.

For this Lamborghini Diablo, the number is 1.8.

I'll repeat that again. This is a 17-year-old car with 1.8 kilometres on the clock.

It's for sale in Canada, and naturally the price is somewhat high; $499,900USD, or $715,000NZD in Aotearobucks. A quick consultation with uncle Google reveals that there's an older one for sale over the ditch for almost half that figure.

There is no further info in the listing other than the specs of the car, and the haunting “Car has never been driven” sentence. But reviewing the photos, everything looks in absolute ship shape — from the black leather to the 'titanium' silver exterior.

One wonders about how it comes to pass that such a remarkable car sits stationary for such a long period. Was it part of a collection, sitting pretty in a museum? Did it live static in a millionaire's lounge room, next to the traditional black piano and across from the tiger-skin rug?

Or has someone just meddled with the odometer?

Who would know.
