While Chris Harris is nowhere near as famous as fellow Top Gear presenters Chris Evans or Matt LeBlanc, he is well known among car enthusiasts, with his YouTube channel having more than 347,000 subscribers and 26 million views.
He started his career at weekly motoring magazine Autocar, but has written for numerous other titles, including Evo magazine and websites such as Drivers Republic and Jalopnik.
Harris has been nicknamed “Monkey” since school, the name coming from the Only Fools and Horses character Monkey Harris.
In addition to testing vehicles supplied by manufacturers, Harris has owned several supercars over the years, including a Lamborghini Gallardo and a Ferrari 599 (below).
He is also a big fan of Porsches, going so far as to build his dream 911, a 1972 car with the performance of a modern Porsche. He nicknamed it "Kermit" for obvious reasons.
Harris isn’t afraid of upsetting car manufacturers, and was banned from driving Ferraris between 2011 and 2013 after he wrote on Jalopnik that “the ecstasy of driving a new Ferrari is now almost always eradicated by the pain of dealing with the organisation”.
Ferrari isn't the only Italian supercar maker to have banned him from reviewing its cars; Lamborghini got upset in 2014 after Harris described Lamborghinis as “perfect cars for people who can't drive and want to be seen” and said the company’s future was “bleak”.
He is still allowed to drive Mazdas, despite describing the popular MX-5 convertible as "pants".
Harris is an accomplished racing driver, having finished fourth at the Nürburgring 24 Hours in 2010 in a Porsche 911 GT3 RS.
It's not just modern cars Harris races; driving a Lister Jaguar Coupe in 2013 he came close to winning the most prestigious race at the Goodwood Revival, the most RAC TT.
